Isuzu has previewed a pre-production prototype of the Isuzu D-MAX battery electric vehicle (BEV) which is based on the D-Max midsize pickup.
The Isuzu D-MAX EV will make its first public appearance on March 27 at the Bangkok International Motor Show in Thailand, before its market launch in Europe which is scheduled for 2025, followed by launches in Australia, Thailand, and other regions.
Powering the D-MAX EV will be a 66.9 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that will power dual motors and will provide an expected range of 450 kilometres. The dual-motor setup enables full-time 4WD and puts out a combined 174bhp and 329 Nm of torque, making it more powerful than the base-spec 1.9-liter diesel.
The Isuzu D-Max BEV showcases a revamped front end featuring a covered grille to enhance aerodynamics, complemented by blue accents. While the remainder of its dual-cab design is similar to that of the ICE-powered D-Max, notable updates include fresh six-spoke wheels and 'EV Concept' badges along the profile. Whether the production model will deviate from this prototype remains uncertain.
